About Rebecca

Rebecca accepts briefs in Family Law, Children’s Court matters, as well as Crime and Administrative and Migration Law. Rebecca welcomes appearance in each of these jurisdictions. Rebecca accepts briefs in metro Melbourne as well as regional Victorian Courts and is a very experienced advocate who has been appearing in Court for over 15 years.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Rebecca worked exclusively in child protection, as a Solicitor with the Child Protection Litigation Office (DFFH) and as a Solicitor Advocate representing the Department in metro and regional cases. Rebecca’s work with the Department involved in house legal advice, regular appearance work and preparing briefs for interim and final contest.

Earlier in her career, Rebecca focused on crime and practised as a Legal Officer in the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions Office in Adelaide. She gained experience in Centrelink offences, fraud, drug offences and taxation offences. She also worked as a Judge’s Associate at the District Court of South Australia in the criminal division and as a Clerk in the State Director of Public Prosecutions office.

Rebecca also spent time overseas where she interned with the United Nations Resident Co-ordinator’s Office in Beirut in 2009 whilst she completed her Master of Laws (International Law and International Relations) from Flinders University.

Outside of the law, Rebecca co-founded a charity, Hope for Nauru (providing essentials to refugees being held in Australia’s offshore detention centre) and was Chairperson from 2017 until 2020. She was also an active board member running the Advocacy Program until 2023. Over the last two decades, Rebecca has volunteered in various organisations advocating for refugees, including Amnesty International Australia, and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
